About Us

Experience Intentionally. Create a life in color.

We are Carli and Tiziano: partners in life, parents to our little adventurer, and co-founders of Mosaic.

Carli is from Canton, Ohio, and Tiziano is from Mentana, Italy, a small city outside of Rome where olive trees, vineyards, wheat fields, and family traditions are part of everyday life. Our story has been shaped by two cultures, many countries, and a shared love for experiencing the world slowly, curiously, and with intention.

Our Story

We met in 2014 at an international Friendsgiving in Arkansas. Tiziano arrived by bicycle with a baked pasta dish, and Carli was in the kitchen making glühwein. Before we had even properly met, Tiziano was already offering very direct Italian feedback on how to make it better.

Somehow, that first conversation moved from food to work to the ethics of data mining. We came from very different worlds, Carli in marketing and Tiziano in agricultural research, but we were both drawn to the same kind of questions: What matters? How do we live well? How do we connect more deeply with the people and places around us?

By the next day, we were on our first official date.

In 2015, Tiziano returned to Italy, and Carli moved to Luxembourg to work with Miami University’s study abroad program. For nearly four years, we built our relationship long-distance, meeting every few weeks across Europe: Luxembourg, Italy, Germany, Spain, and wherever our budgets and bus or train tickets could take us.

Those years taught us that meaningful travel is not always about checking off the biggest landmarks. It is often found in the slower moments: wandering through markets, cooking with local ingredients, discovering small-town festivals, hiking to hidden beaches, sharing countryside meals, and listening to people’s stories.

Our work reflected that too. Carli planned student travel, led retreat and leadership experiences, and created immersive internships to help students connect more deeply with local culture. Tiziano worked across different areas of agriculture while carrying his love for growing plants, understanding the land, and staying close to the food we eat.

In 2019, we made Italy home together. We lived in a small town, grew a garden, built a chicken coop, cooked slowly, walked often, and kept dreaming about creating something of our own, something that would help other people slow down, reconnect, and experience life with more presence.

In 2021, we moved back to the United States and spent a month traveling by Amtrak with only backpacks, reconnecting with the country where we were beginning our next chapter. Since then, we have lived in North Carolina, Texas, and now California, where Mosaic has started to take shape.

What We Love

At heart, we are both makers, wanderers, and curious people.

Carli has danced her whole life and loves crafting, photography, and finding local gems wherever we live. She is usually the one stopping to take a picture, noticing the details, and looking for the small places that make a town feel alive.

Tiziano loves growing plants, biking, working with his hands, and exploring crafts like silversmithing. His connection to agriculture, food, and making things from scratch is part of how he experiences the world.

Together, we love hiking, traveling, and learning how to make things ourselves, from gelato to pasta, from pottery to silver. Becoming parents has made this sense of wonder even more meaningful. Watching our son jump in the waves, explore Italy from his stroller, and notice the world with fresh eyes reminds us that curiosity is something we can keep returning to.

Why Mosaic

Mosaic was created from all of these pieces: our cultures, our travels, our work, our family, our creative lives, and our belief that meaningful experiences can help us feel more connected to ourselves, to each other, and to the places we are in.

Today, we are building Mosaic in California through retreats, gatherings, and intentional experiences rooted in reflection, creativity, connection, and play. Over time, our dream is to bring people to Italy too, not only to the famous landmarks, but to the small towns, countryside kitchens, local traditions, hidden places, and everyday rituals where so much of the magic lives.

Mosaic is our way of bringing the pieces together.

Con amore (with love),
